Calendar of events, and question for your reply...

This half of the semester, concerts will not be paid from your class dues.
So the question is: can you attend this one concert, paid out of pocket, your expense?

The 36 voices of Ars Nova Singers will perform rarely heard masterpieces from across musical history in this joyous holiday program, featuring medieval songs sung in candlelight; resplendent villancicos from Renaissance Spain; modern masterworks by Morten Lauridsen, Alf Houkom, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jeffrey Van and Boulder composer Jeffrey Nytch; and familiar carols in vibrant arrangements. With special guest Benjamin CantĂș, classical guitar.

Assignments due by 12/15/11

1. Read [re-read] chapter 1, "The Historical Development of Sacred Music", in "The Ministry of Music" by Kenneth W. Osbeck.
2. *Be prepared to indicate you've finished the viewing assignments of Jewish music from the blog-site posting list [YouTube videos]. It will also be a point of discussion in class, as we'll view some again in class. Also be prepared for long-answer question on a future quiz from this particular assignment.
3. Read through ch. 15 in "Why I Left the Contemporary Christian Music Movement" by Dan Lucarini.
4. *Complete theory assignment papers on space names for bass clef.
5. *Memorize 2 Peter 1:21.
6. Complete your sign-up for the Ars Nova Concert by confirming with Siobhan or PT.
7. For those involved in choir, complete your commitment to finish strong through cantata...be listening to your CD and taking notes during rehearsals.
8. *Read chapter 6, "Physical Sensations Involved in Singing" in "POCKET GUIDE for the CHURCH CHOIR MEMBER; A SPIRITUAL AND PRACTICAL HANDBOOK" by Kenneth W. Osbeck.
